A great source of pride and the acquisition of several scouts searching for the perfect set for movies and weddings may be the only historically correct, true structural Timber frame barn in Western Canada reaching up 3 levels.
Not even one piece of metal holds this frame together! It is truly a work of art and an unbelievable dedication to fine craftsmanship.
The hay loft is serviced by an old fashioned pulley-operated hay rake suspended above. Even the doors in this barn are solid wood and also have been constructed with dovetail joinery rather than metal. The hinges, hardware and exterior and interior coach lamps are all hand forged metal.
There are box stalls and heavy horse tie stalls and the cleanest tack room I have ever seen with the same quaint appeal that you find in every aspect of this ranch as you discover there is even an antique pot belly stove. This barn is built to last too, with a proper 6 foot foundation and drainage, the building wrapped in the same Douglas fir that accomplishes an already aged look but will last for centuries.
The sill plates are protected with this over-the-top solid construction standard where the perimeter walls in the barn are double layered boards. The inside displays fir walls as well with no expense spared in accomplishing an experience of Old world charm, even a cobblestone floor to create the clip-clop of the horses as they move across the expansive room.
It is all topped off with Corten steel roofing which is guaranteed to last for 50 years but is expected to last for 150. Expensive and adored for the rusty outer layers that again help to create the feel of a homestead that has stood the test of time already, and that will continue to weather for centuries more.
